About us
Easy Read Online was founded in 2009 by Martin Dobson. Before setting up the business, he spent 10 years managing a Self Advocacy Organisation for people with learning disabilities and had over 25 years’ experience producing Easy Read information.
Since then, we have grown to become the UK’s largest specialist Easy Read provider. We have produced thousands of high-quality Easy Read documents for organisations across the UK and internationally.
Today, our specialist team uses years of experience to produce clear and consistent Easy Read. We work with government departments, local authorities, health and care services, charities, housing associations, and arts and culture organisations. We help them make their information accessible and meet their legal responsibilities.

Our approach

We are committed to the social model of disability, which recognises that disabled people are limited by barriers in society rather than by their impairment.
Inaccessible information is one of those barriers.
By making information clear and accessible, we help remove that barrier so people can understand their rights, make decisions and take more control over their lives.
Quality and consistency are central to our work. Our approach has been shaped over many years and strengthened by involving people with learning disabilities in reviewing what we produce. This helps ensure our Easy Read is not only accessible, but clear and genuinely useful.
Beyond our client work
We are passionate about improving Easy Read beyond our client work. We:

-
Contribute to a working group developing Easy Read standards in the UK.
-
Involve people with learning disabilities in our work, creating meaningful social value.
-
Run a large online community that helps people find existing Easy Read information and identify gaps.
-
Produce free Easy Read materials, including guidance created during the COVID-19 pandemic.
-
Have supported the United Nations to strengthen inclusive communication guidelines throughout their teams worldwide.
-
Worked with humanitarian services in the UAE to help establish Easy Read standards in the Arab world.
