Easy-Videos on a council website
The London
Borough of Barking and Dagenham is the first Local Authority to
make web pages that are accessible to people with learning
disabilities on the council website.
Every Public Authority has a wealth of information which it
should be making available to everyone - including people who have
difficulty with reading.
The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham is pointing the way
with some Easy-Video-Pages
on it's Adult Social Care website.
We worked with a group of people with learning difficulties in
the borough to make these easy-video-pages, and added them to the
council's existing content management system.
They even have put the
Easy-Video-Pages onto the council's touch screen kiosks - so that
it is easy for people who don't have their own computer to access
the information.
Click here to see a video
of Barry talking about the Kiosk.
The site includes information about access to health services,
housing, police, and advocacy help plus a wealth of information
about what to do about bullying or crime.
